So awful

So a HUGE part of my fan base did the nicest thing for Rachel and I tonight and we were not there to accept.

So since Rachel and I did so poorly on our Anthropology test, Mariam made us some sympathy cookies.

She makes the best cookies in the world, so this was a big deal.

And she brought them to church tonight because Rachel and I are usually always there because we are on staff. But tonight both of us had other things going on.

And we are so lame.

Yum.

I took Rachel out to lunch on Tuesday for her birthday.

We went to Rick and Ann's.

My favorite restaurant (I have issues spelling that word, does anyone else struggle with that?).

It was delicious, and we had so much fun.

Sadly, I think my favorite beautifully hot cook that used to work there left.

He hasn't been there the last three times.

This is very upsetting.

quote of the day

My mom's thought on American Idol's Adam Lambert

Mom: "I think he's. . .a prostitute."

We'll take the trail marked on your father's map.

I bought a new hat today.

I got a good deal on it too.

from all of us to you

Happy Birthday Nate!!

2-26-78

Right? 78? did I do my math right?

This Bird Has Flown

I forgot to wish the writer of my favorite song happy birthday. . .

I feel horrible.

Happy belated birthday, George.

Run Emily, run.

I left a little bit late for school this morning.

There was bad traffic for the time of day.

I was going to be late.

I already have one absence for my Administration of Justice class. If I have more then two I have to take the final. If I only have two then I don't have to take it.

I decided to wear 4" wedges to school today.

I had to park in the overflow lot.

I ran barefoot from the overflow lot to the planetarium.

If you know DVC, you know how far that is.

If you don't, well, it's on complete opposite sides of the campus.

I am a hardcore student.

And I made it just in time for roll.

Takin' pictures is makin' memories.

I have so much to blog about.

They all involve pictures that are on my dead camera.

Tomorrow.

Oh, and I've basically decided that I want to get my masters and teach art.
This plan could change.

But nevertheless, it is the plan!

Inspiration at its finest.

I love this.

It has inspired me to do wonderful art-like things.

Oh, and I totally failed my test.

Another reason I feel like doing art.

I know I don't suck at that.

Most of the time.

DNA, RNA, gene flow, genetic drift, mutation. . .

I have an Anthropology test today.

Wish me luck.

Yeah, so I don't believe we evolved from monkeys.

that is just silly.

Oops, too late, it's a quarter past silly!

Everyone should own this book. Even if you buy it for yourself.

"If you find two four-leaf clovers
you give me one

If I find four
I give you two

If we only find three
we keep looking

Sometimes we have good luck
and sometimes we don't."

You wanna be on top?

They are looking for a season with short models (5'5"-5'7")

That would be me.

I'm thinking of applying.

Thoughts? Anyone?

Yes? No?

FYI: You really have no say in the matter, I'll probably end up applying anyway, just for fun.

A little kick in my step

I've had a very happy day today.

For no reason in particular.

These are my favorite kinds of days.

19.

It's my friend Rachel's birthday today.

So happy birthday Rachel, enjoy the 5 months that we are the same age

Goodnight.

I am sleeping with my window wide open tonight, and the sound of the rain is lovely.

The fifty blankets on my bed are my best friends.

I'm planning on dreaming that I'm in in the drawing above.

Just for one day I'd like to be Mary Poppins.

verse of February 22nd

I must perform my vows to you, O God;
I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death,
   yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life. -Psalms 56:12-13

Well its been a long, been a long, been a long, been a long day.

I didn't blog all day.

I am made of fail.

In other news, the Oscars were tonight, and they were very entertaining. Although, I hate it when Hollywood tries to go political on us. I feel manipulated and then I hate whoever is speaking. *grumblegrumbleSeanPenngrumblegrumble*.

I have a test on Tuesday, so I might be silent until then.

Or not.

The internet is the only thing standing between me and my 4.0. . . which is no longer possible. Uhhmmmm. . . never mind.

What's up doc?

Hello, my name is Emily, and I have a carrot addiction.

On that note, I was just thinking about what a horrible idea it is to ask kids what a bunny rabbit says. I admit that I find myself doing this sometimes.

First of all, they don't say anything.

Second of all, if their answer/your explanation is *wiggles nose*.

That's not a sound.

No wonder kids are stupid these days.

Goodbye sweet America

My favorite song.

This song was written  by George Harrison in Eric Clapton's backyard.

Here comes the sun, doo da doo doo
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Little darling
It's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes

Little darling
I see the ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun
It's alright
It's alright

It's so quiet

So I've been home alone tonight due to the fact that the rest of my family is eating at my dad's parent's house tonight.

I was working, so I didn't go.

I've decided that it is very bad for me to be alone for too long. Then I actually start thinking instead of talking, and I am overcome by nostalgia.

Every time.

Either that or I have fantasies of grandeur about my future.

Both of which I must roll my eyes at and get back to homework.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is the worst day of my life.

I don't want to study anymore.

If I could be anyone in the illustrated world right now.

I would be her

Please don't talk to me, please don't talk to me, please don't. . .

I feel very uncomfortable.

I'm in Peet's and the lady sitting next to me keeps talking to herself.

Should I move?

I don't really feel like moving. I have a window seat.

This. Is. Very. Odd.

If anyone has advice. Please feel free to help.

Please. Help.

Urban Outfitters here I come. . . does that give to much away?

luckily for me, it is also the perfect weather for birthday present shopping.

Rachel, Nate, Stephen.

What would you like?

I'll be single forever. The end.

The weather is absolutely beautiful today.

I've decided it's perfect for falling in love.

I'm too lazy to work on that right now.

Maybe another day.

Testing time.

I have an Anthropology test on Tuesday.

I am supposed to have read up to chapter 5.

I just finished chapter 3.

*sigh*

So basically if I don't blog very much this weekend it's because I'm making great strides in studying.

If I do blog a lot it's because I'm a horrible student.

Most likely the latter will be happening.

BUT. I would like everyone to know that I seriously aced my first essay in the class.

Seriously.

Like, 97% seriously.

My teacher's exact words were, "beautifully written and argued".

Go me.

Ask a question. . .

I've had a question about what Fiberful is.

 This is it.

Namaste

I'm going to yoga tonight.

I can't wait.

Pants boy

You may remember "pants boy" that Maddy is in love with from Trader Joe's.

Anyway, it has been Maddy, Maria and mine's mission to find out his name for about a month now.

Not so much Maria since she doesn't live here. But she has been cheering us on.

Basically whenever we are at TJ's, his sweatshirt is covering his name tag. It's very frustrating.

Today of all days, I go grocery shopping, and there it is, his name tag, in plain sight.

Eric. His name is Eric.

Mission complete.

If anyone would like to know what I bought, my shopping list is as follows:

Lentils
Carrots
Luna Bars
Z Bars
Fiberful
and Pretzels

My school lunches will be very nicely packed now.

I was out of food and having to eat the nasty stuff at school.

Not. Okay.

If you'll be my star, I'll be your sky

So I went to the black hole that is Michael's today to find some twinkley cardboard stars (in gold please). I hung hearts off of my tree for Valentine's Day, and I really liked it. So I decided that I should have stars for all year round.

My inner lazy told me to buy them.

Apparently they don't sell them.

So I'm going to make some. Sometime. Soon?

Maybe. I hope.

My inner lazy usually wins this battle.

Not this time. I won't let it.

I can't keep up with it all!

So lately I've had an outpouring of new cool music.

First, I bought the new Schuyler Fisk CD. Which I'm totally in love with. I don't know if I talked about it on here. But my fan base deserves to know that she is amazing. One of my total favs.

THEN, the new Lily Allen CD was on sale at Amazon for $3.99. Like I was going to pass that up. Whatever.

Now, I'm a total believer in buying music, I very rarely steal music. But my friend Kelly burned me a copy of the new Joshua Radin CD. And I accepted. It's beautiful.
I was planning on going to his concert tonight, but alas, everyone was busy. =(

Today I got home and my mom purchased the most lovely CD I have heard in a long time. It's by a group called The Welcome Wagon (pictured above) it is a pastor and his wife. They have a really similar style to Sufjan Stevens who I love. I think my mom said something about him producing their music or something. It's really cool because they sing Christian music, but it's not the stuff that sounds like "oh I just wrote a love song and then threw Jesus' name into it so I could sell it to Christians". I'm really not a fan of such nonsense.

Anyway, they are ridiculously amazing.
Oh, and there is a banjo involved, which makes it all the better.

I don't know where I'm going to find the time to listen to all this new music!

You got the world planned in your mind

This is a great album.

Everyone should buy it.

Breakfast

Nothing interesting has been happening.

And for me that really means nothing has been happening.

You're talking to someone who blogs about food she has eaten lately.

Nope, nothing is happening.

Unless you think that me eating oatmeal for breakfast is something you'd like to know.

I ate it with cranberries. It was delicious.

Aslan?

So my good friend Garrett came home this weekend from school, and we got to hang out tonight.

We went to In-N-Out, where I had to break the news I was a vegetarian.

He didn't take it well.

Anyway, then we met up with our friend Cassie who got us in to see Taken for FREE. Her brother works at the theatre so it worked out great.

I usually like to keep this blog family friendly, but. . . this just needs to be said. . .

Liam Neeson is a total bad ass.

There is no other way to describe him in this role.

Please, everyone go see this movie. It's ridiculous.

Photo shoot time

For Maddy's birthday we had a photo shoot.

Maddy's friend Kaylee was involved too, but I don't really put up pictures of other people's children.

It was so much fun.

Oh, and I'm planning on joining a family of raccoons.

The Little Prince

Grown-ups like numbers. When you tell them about a new friend, they never ask questions about what really matters. They never ask: "What does his voice sound like?" "What games does he like best?" "Does he collect butterflies?". They ask: "How old is he?" "How many brothers does he have?" "How much does he weigh?" "How much money does his father make?" Only then do they think they know him.
-The Little Prince.

I love this book.

The first time I read it was when I was about nine.

My Farfar gave it to me when I was staying with them at their house.

I loved it then. And I love it now.

Everyone else should love it too.

I'm going to punch someone.

I have a cough. A horrible nasty cough.

I sneezed at one of my tables yesterday. It was a disaster.

I showered a small child. It came out of no where.

In other news I'm going to hang out with my friend Garrett tonight that I haven't seen F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

I'm very excited.

Cup to the cake

Thank you Brittany for sending these yummy cupcakes with your children.

Liv and Mel are spending the night tonight.

As are these yummy cupcakes.

In my stomach.

A sight for sore eyes

I went to the eye doctor today.

It was basically the first time I've ever had an eye exam. I went once when I was 10, but it was to a Kiaser doctor, and she didn't speak english and I had no idea what was going on.

Anyway, I'm getting glasses for driving.

In two weeks I will blog again and you can see my lovely lenses.

I wanted to get Buddy Holly type glasses, but I decided that I wouldn't want them for 2 years.

Hence, the ones I got are kinda boring.

The expectations are high. . .

RACHEL AND I ARE GOING TO COACHELLA THIS YEAR.

Paul McCartney is going to be there. We are very excited. Very. Very. Excited.

We went to Berkeley today to celebrate. Well, not really, but we went, and it was so much fun.

The pictures to prove it.

Okay, this doesn't prove it. None of these were taken in Berkeley.

Verse(s) of February 11th

I haven't done one of these for awhile. I may or may not have been reading my Bible while stressing about my Anthropology paper. Real smart Emily, real smart.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:12-14

Elsa Beskow

I'm getting this tattooed on me.

Trouble.

Woo. Go Michael. Rockin' the Ray.

This is for Mel.
