Quote of the day

I promised an amazing quote of the day

and since I can't sleep

here you go.

Today in speech class we were talking about how to come up with metaphors for speeches.

My teacher asked us to close our eyes and think about the word "freedom". As soon as a picture came into our minds we were supposed to open our eyes.

The teacher called on a few people, one person said the American Flag, another said a bird, running, happiness, things like that.

Then my teacher called on this one girl. . I still can't figure out what her problem was.

She responded, without hesitation, "Obama's inauguration speech".

What?

That makes you think of freedom? How does that make you think of freedom?

If the teacher said think "inspirational" or "historic" that would be totally legit.

But. . . freedom?

What?

Really?

Has she just been waiting to answer a question with that response and she felt that now was as good a time as any?

Maybe she answers every question like that? This is Jr. College after all, and that is basically the correct answer to everything. It's like answering "Yes, no, or Jesus" to a Sunday school question.

I'm still totally confused as to why she said that. . . but. . . more power to her. . . I guess.

Oh Jr. College, go. . go. . may I never wish you back again.

She was definitely just waiting to use that at the first opportunity. If someone had asked "What's a good cure for hiccups?" She would have said, "Obama's inauguration speech."
